Mitchell Riley is a young leather artisan from Chippewas of the Thames First Nation located in Southwestern Ontario. He got his start in indigenous arts & crafts at a young age. When he was a younger he would often help his Grandfather with his craftwork. Spending his visiting times cutting leather and lacing medicine pouches with his Grandpa. His love for crafting stems from a love to spend time with his Grandfather. As of now he is fully self taught in his work, a lot are skills handed down to him by his Grandfather, the heavy leather work he does like hand stitched leather wallets, sheaths, and cases is all self taught using youtube instructional videos made by others in the leatherwork community with years of experience. He is hoping to upgrade his skills and take a professional one-on-one course with a professional shoemaker in Toronto Ontario.
